Review: Salon de San Lorenzo- Hair Rebond

Hey, i'm back! How have you all been? I know i got a lot of things to make up to. To begin with, i just had my hair rebonded this morning. It's my first ever experience to hair rebond. I've never undegone a hair treatment before except for a simple hot oil. And it was so looooooong ago.

By the way, here's my hair pre-rebond;

As per cliche, the hair is a woman's crowning glory. Sadly, mine was an awful glory. It was literally dry, frizzy and tangled.  But even so, i never thought of  undergoing a hair rebonding treatment. I was scared my hair would even be damaged.

Well, not until i chance upon this deal. Deals are so addicting and tempting. So yeah,, i was tempted to get  this deal of hair rebonding treatment. The highlights got me interested.

Highlights
  • Get a new look with shinier, straighter, healthy-looking hair
  • Suitable for both normal hair and colored hair, men and women
  • For all hair lengths (short, medium, long and even super-long)
  • Get the hair that glam rock legends could only ever have dreamt of, including the hair cut
  • Ultimate salvation for tangled-up, stressed-out, and chemically damaged hair
  • Enjoy a wonderful hot oil treatment for your hair, making them even shinier and silky

A day before my hair treatment, i called at salon de san lorenzo to make an appointment because a friend of mine told me they're fully booked as early as now. As expected, the salon's attendant who received my call, inform me that they are indeed fully booked until the month of January. But i insisted greatly to book me earlier than that (probably by Dec or this month, November). She told me to call back by 6pm to know if there's someone who'll gonna cancel her appointment then i'll be the one to take her place.. So when i called back she did booked me for an appointment the very next day. Needless to say, someone had cancelled an appointment or sdsl just made the-fully-book-thing up. Well, i don't care.

Upon arrival at the salon the next day, i received a text from the salon's staff reminding me of my appointment that if i arrived one hour from scheduled appointment the voucher will definitely be forfeited. Oopps, network traffic i guess. The receptionist is quite accommodating. She handed me a form which i filled up with my personal details and signed the agreement chorva...

Two beki hairstylists did my hair rebonding treatment. After assessing my hair type and hair condition the next process is the application of hair strengthening ( i asked the beki everytime he's gonna put up something on my hair, it's my first rebonding experience so i really don't have any idea about its process) Then rinse. Then blow dry. Then iron. Next part, is the application of neutralizer (that's what he told me) Then rinse again, blow dry and iron. Last part is the hair cut. I don't like how the stylist did the hair cutting right away without even asking a permission to do so or without even asking me what style i want for my hair to be done.

Another thing, i was already at home when i remembered i was suppose to have a hot oil treatment aside from rebonding. It's included in my voucher. I don't know if they have also forgotten about it or they did it on purpose since i also didn't noticed it when i was there :(.

Overall, i like my hair's new transformation. It was really smooth, shiny and very light. Love it. I just hope it would really stay this way for months or so.

Here's my beautiful hair post-rebond;

P.s  The treatment process took 4 hours.

Hair Care Myths!

Article by Goodhousekeeping
Myth: Frequent trims make hair grow faster.
Truth: "Hair grows a half-inch per month, whether you cut it or not" Hair may grow slightly faster in the summer, but that has nothing to do with the stylist's scissors and everything to do with hormones, which do speed growth a little. One thing a trim will do: Eliminate split ends, making hair look better.

Myth: Stress can make your hair fall out.
Truth: Although your hair is falling out all the time, to the tune of 50 to 120 strands per day, it's possible that you may lose a few more strands when you're "catastrophically" stressed, meaning you have had a major life change such as a divorce, lost job, or surgery. "Other culprits are pregnancy or antibiotics. After a few weeks, it will almost certainly grow back."

Myth: Switching shampoos can make hair look healthier.
Truth: It may seem so, but experts scoff. "Hair can't tell the difference between brands or build up tolerance to any product." "Your favorite shampoo will work the same every time you lather up, week after week, month after month." If you have very oily hair or favor a particularly sticky styling product that contains wax, it does pay to use a clarifying shampoo once every two weeks to wash away residue.
Myth: If you pluck out one gray hair, two or three will sprout in its place.
Truth: While this isn't true, plucking out those gray strands is a bad habit. You can damage the roots, causing infection or leaving a scar.

Myth: You can't make flat, fine hair look full of body.
Truth: Five minutes with a set of large hot rollers will add life to straight hair.

Myth: Rinsing with ice-cold water after a shampoo will give you shinier hair.
Truth: It might wake you up, but a dousing of cold water will have no effect on the shininess of your tresses.
Myth: Coloring your hair causes major damage.
Truth: Products today — both at home and in the salon — are gentle enough not to weaken hair. In fact, some contain extra conditioners that may leave hair more manageable than before. Although it's not necessary, "it can't hurt to consult a professional stylist the first time you do anything permanent to your hair or scalp.

Myth: You should brush your hair 100 strokes every day
Truth: "Brush it only to style it, because brushing pulls hairs out of their follicles and possibly weakens individual strands.
Myth: You can mend split ends with the right products
Truth: Once they're split, that's it. The only thing you can do then is cut them off. Making split ends less noticeable by applying a product containing silicone or beeswax. It will temporarily seal ends together, making hair softer and more manageable.

Myth: To get really clean hair, you must "lather, rinse, and repeat."
Truth: One thorough washing will do the trick.

The Right Way to Wash our Hair!

For most of us women, our hair is indeed our crowning glory. That's why we take some extra time and extra care to make it beautiful. But do you know that the best way to start having a beautiful hair is by knowing the right way to wash it? Because washing our hair the wrong way can contribute to its damage without actually knowing it.

So what's the right way of washing our hair?

The first thing you should do is to comb the tangles out of the hair before you wet it so the hair would wash easily and the tangles would not worsen. And then, wet the hair thoroughly under the shower. You can use either warm or cold water if you like, but for best results, you can wet your hair with warm water to open the scale-like cuticles of the hair and wash all the oil and dirt off. And then, you can rinse your hair with cold water afterwards to close the cuticles and add to the shine of your hair.

Rinse your hair under the shower to rid it of the leave-on conditioner and styling aids you have used previously, using gentle strokes of your fingertips. Then, pour a dollop of shampoo in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together, and then apply the shampoo to your scalp. Take note that you should put the shampoo on your scalp and not at the ends of your hair, as the shampoo would dry your hair's ends and cause it to weaken and split. Also, do not mix your hair all over your head as you shampoo because it will get all tangled up. After this, rinse the shampoo off.

More often than not, we need to shampoo our hair for a second time. The purpose of the first shampoo is to clean the oil and dirt off; the second shampoo is supposed to let the shampoo treat our hair. So, repeat the process, but let the shampoo sit on for around a couple of minutes. Rinse the hair completely after this.

To get the excess water off your hair, just squeeze the water out. Do not pull or tug at the hair because the hair is at its most delicate when it is soaked. When the excess water is out, apply a dollop of conditioner and apply it along the hairline, the nape and the ends of the hair. Pile your hair then inside a shower cap and let the conditioner stay there for around ten minutes. And then, rinse it off completely.

What we should remember about our hair is that the individual strands of our hair, no matter how thick or strong it looks, is actually very delicate. So we cannot just tug and pull at it, or else it would break. We would not want to have hair breakage, would we?
